About Il Forno
The "saga" started in 1969 in the French southern town of Montpellier, a beautiful student town in Provence where flavors from France, Spain and Italy blend. When Victor and Serge were at the faculty of medicine, their younger brother and sister, Michel and Monique were working in a pizzeria that belong to an old Italian man from Sicily. He was "THE PIZZA MASTER" and that's where we got our fantastic thin crust pizza recipe. The 4 brothers and sister then decided to put all their tiny economy together and buy a little truck with a built in brick oven, so while Victor and Serge were studying Michel and Monique were selling pizza on the parking lot of the university, until one night they forgot to turn off the fire and the truck completely burned down in front of their apartment building which they spent one week to repaint. Two years later, in the early seventy's Victor and Serge with their surgeon dentist diploma in their pocket decided to buy an old hotel restaurant in a small winter resort near the famous Mont Blanc in the French Alps for Michel and another pizzeria managed by Monique in a The French Famous city of Nimes. We are now in 1979 and 10 years after their first pizza they have decided to move on to the French Riviera on a small island named Porquerolles where French Stars and Paris jet setters mingle with old "Pastis" drinkers and "Petanque" players. It is only in the late eighty's that the Nataf Family decided to explore the new world and with their love for the sea and the sun they could not get any better choice than the Caribbean. The only difference with France was their business. They have completely changed and decided to recycle in the textile industry, after 20 years of Caribbean and different successful businesses one thing was missing: their pizza.
